Happy Mother's Day to all of you moms, but special wishes to the moms in my life! Love you.
There are entire months that go by when I can't figure out why I live in Iowa. But then there are certain days that are so close to perfection that I can't imagine missing them.
This is the part where I post a billion tulip pics. These are pretty much SOOC shots - all I did was reduce the size so they'd fit on my blog and put on my watermark. The light, the colors... those are not enhanced. I'm telling ya' - if you ever have the urge to see tulips and Holland is out of your budget, the little Dutch settlement of Pella, Iowa sure is a cute budget-friendly substitute. It was worth the road trip.

The pond is shaped like a wooden shoe.

Look closely, you can see the photg (moi!) in the reflection of his glasses! I just love that toothless grin.

And thank you all for response for Trouble's birthday post. You are why the blogosphere is such a grand place!

Wow, what gorgeous colors! I bet you weren't even sweating. We've had temps in the 90s all week... maybe I should move to Iowa. At least for the summer.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous!

ReplyDeleteOh, I love tulips! This reminds me of "Tulip Time" in Holland, MI. (Similar Dutch settlement) The streets are lined with the flowers. What a beautiful day!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos! How funny the pond is shaped like a shoe! I love all the tulips. What a neat place.

AWESOME pics! My husband spent 6 months in Holland (Delft, to be exact) working with a church before we got married. The tulip blooms there were as large as grapefruit. I was able to spend a week with him during his stay and your photos brought back some of my fondest memories. Beautiful!

p.s. Tulips are my fav. flower...I just wish they lived longer once they're in the vase! :)
stunning pictures!
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed Pella! I grew up in a suburb of Minneapolis, MN, and never thought I'd like a small town, but I've been in Pella 10 years now and love it. This year we performed in the Dutch Family Singers (in the Saturday parade and around the streets during the days) group with our kids and will probably do it for life!
