Random Randomness.

I'm over at Heart of the Matter Online today talking about the Losing the Winter Blahs in your homeschool. Head on over - let's share ideas!

See this gorgeous creature? She is another one of my sisters. For the sake of my blog, let's call her Sunny. Sunny is a brilliant grad student who is hoping to land a clinical practicum. (I know, I know. She's gorgeous and smart. Go 'head. Try and hate her - you won't be able to.) Sunny is going to be like the Lauren Graham character in 'Because I Said So.' Anyway - I would just like to send her a note to say - Good luck! Knock 'em dead, gf! Love you bunches.

I had to start with that other stuff because I have this fear that I'm going to wake up one day and be the crazy bird woman. But look who has been hanging around the house lately. Isn't he beautiful? And um... I think he watches us. It's the most bizarre thing ever. I can see his head movements follow the movement in the house. Have you ever heard of a bird who enjoys people-watching? I mean I know some crazy people who enjoy bird-watching... but a bird who enjoys people-watching?? I thought I was imagining it at first, but he's done this several times now. In the middle of the day. I hope he doesn't think our little Trouble looks like lunch. 'Cause if it comes down to a battle, the boybarians and I wager that the owl wins. Those are some mighty talons.

So if we all disappear mysteriously... find the bird.

Don't forget to participate in 7 Weeks of Meatless Fridays if your family observes this Lent tradition. You're absolutely welcome to join in - I've gotten some emails asking if bloggers can participate for budget reasons rather than religious observation. Well, yes! Of course. I know many of us are feeling the pinch at the grocery store. Having a meatless option once a week can be an inexpensive way to feed your family. And by request - I will also feature *healthier* Meatless Friday options, too. Whhhhaaaa? The cheese-filled stuffed shells too decadent for ya'?

New Meatless Recipes posted each Monday!

  1. Yes, your sister is amazingly beautiful!! I wish I looked more like her. :)

That owl is so awesome. I've never heard of a people-watching bird, but I believe it! And I bet it's even creepier because only his head moves to follow you. It's like those guys in the haunted mansion at Disneyland, lol. :)

  6. Darc--

I'm thinking your family photos would blind people with all the beauty.

Have you thought about the possibility that one of your sons is a wizard and that owl is bringing letters?

  8. First, I have never thought of using the Apples to Apples cards for Pictionary...fun times!

Second, Your sister is bee-yoo-tee-ful! And you were just kidding about all that smart stuff, right? I mean, she can't be that smart and that pretty and be fo' real, right? Just kidding! I hope the best for her!

And third, I am a crazy person bird watcher. As soon as I saw that owl I was jealous that we didn't have one. Although an American Kestrel landed in our neighbor's tree a little while ago. Big news for bird nerds. : )

About that bird . . . Um, aren't they supposed to be sleeping during the day? I thought owls were nocturnal (my big word today. :)

  10. Bird? What bird? I don't see any bird. Just a tree out your window.

  12. Oh I am pee in my pants jealous that you got to watch that owl watch you and get his picture. If you are feeling extra generous I would love to have that photo. I LOVE owls. Have you read Wesley the Owl?

  13. Your owl beats our buzzards by a mile! We have probably 150 buzzards that nest a short distance from our home and they fly in around dusk and circle overhead for a while before settling down for the night. Talk about creepy! My DH often tells the dog to get up and look alive!!
