Discussion on homeschooling starts at about 5:45 min into the segment, in regards to where the Obama girls should go to school.

Oh Joy. Your ignorance is astounding.

  1. I was JUST watching this video. And the ignorance is astounding. To even think for a moment that homeschoolers don't know how to interact with others is crazy talk. Sometimes I think we are a little TOO social!

  3. I'm NOT public school bashing...

But hello?? Like public schools don't turn out some really messed up, socially stunted kids? I know of a few that I graduated with, and they still have issues. LOL

    Joy... UGH... not good, nope.

  5. Appalling that in this day and age someone can be that ill informed. Ill informed about something that so many THOUSANDS of people are doing. Amazing.

  6. Good gosh, I could barely hear them with all the interupting going on! Sheez!! And yes, I agree, some very ignorant comments were made. Unbelievable!

  7. Wow, Joy is ignorant! She obviously doesn't know any real homeschooling families.

My niece grew up going to public schools and in 11th grade had to go to a tutoring school to learn all the basics she missed in her education. (like the difference between vowels and consonants)

  10. STUPID STUPID STUPID.

You know, actually... I would be THRILLED if my kids turned out as well as Laure Ingalls Wilder... successful wife, mother and author. duh!!!

    Man alive.. how STUPID!

  11. I agree with Journey to Family. I have a friend who is contemplating how to afford Sylvan because her child is falling behind in her school! This is okay? Not!

It's so sad that because we're taking the education (AND SOCIALIZATION) of our children seriously enough not to expose them to status quo, we're considered weirdos & our children socially inept.

  12. JOY is the reason I can't watch the view-I found myself yelling at her! I am sorry, but what an idiot!

  14. Yes - I can't watch this show just for the fact that they are so ignorant that I get angry. She cannot POSSIBLY know a single homeschooled person nor has she ever looked at the statistics.

I'm just glad that I can protect my kids from TEACHERS that think like this!

  15. Incredibly irritating .. the sad thing is, from the little that I've seen of her, she seems to consider herself a tolerant and open minded individual.

Apparently that only applies to certain subjects, hm?

  16. mmm mmm mmm! (shaking my head) I'm not surprised. Someone needs a little enlightment.

  17. Joy has always had a bit of foot in mouth disease.

  18. I would LOVE for this topic to come up on the show when Will Smith and/or Jada Pinket Smith are on.

I said this over at WTM Boards -- Joy could not be less appropriately named.

    I cannot stand this show!

  19. How sad...sad she doesn't know enough about Home schooling to get it! You should write her D..I'm not sure it would reach into the cloudy brain she has but...well you know how I feel about the home schooling you do, I'm in awe of your children and what you have taught them..

  20. I had to stop watching the View because they all have ticked me off at some point. Especially Elizabeth - ugh!

  21. Well, Joy used to be a public school teacher - so that should explain a lot about her bias.

  22. Hmmm. The View. Well, it's not even worth viewing in the first place. I only recognize two of the four women, and of those two, I wouldn't care for either of their views. Ladies, I must say, our time would be far better spent listening to our own homeschooled children's views or building redemptive relationships with our neighbors, than to listen to the babblings of four worldly, secular women. Although Ms. Goldberg does make one good point...the other children would not be comfortable with Secret Service men in their classrooms. These public schooled children are only accustomed to dealing with their peer groups, unlike homeschooled children who socialize well with any age group. (-:

  23. I used to watch the View, a few years ago. It became so frustrating with so much bias, and only one conservative "viewpoint". Blessings!
